AML Compliance Manager

My client is a highly regarded independent Australian law firm with a reputation for technical excellence and practical, client-focused advice across commercial, insurance, government, and workplace law. The firm is proactive in preparing for the Tranche 2 reforms and has created this new role to lead the design and implementation of its AML/CTF program.This is a hands-on leadership position where you’ll shape the firm’s AML/CTF strategy and set the foundation for long-term compliance success.

About the role:

• Develop and implement AML/CTF policies, procedures, and risk assessments aligned with Tranche 2 requirements
• Oversee client and matter onboarding, including CDD/KYC processes and ongoing monitoring
• Partner with senior management to ensure a consistent firm-wide approach
• Deliver training, communications, and internal audits to support awareness and accountability
• Provide strategic guidance on AML obligations and regulatory engagement

About You:

• Strong knowledge of AML/CTF legislation
• Demonstrated experience building or leading AML programs, ideally within a law firm, professional-services environment, or a start-up or fintech where you're used to wearing multiple hats and have been across all AML compliance functions
• In-depth understanding of CDD, risk assessment, and reporting processes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
• Comfortable being both strategic and hands-on - this is a standalone role initially.
