My client is a leading property group with an intentional, connected presence throughout Sydney, operating as one centrally owned group. Their values shape how they work, with highly experienced agents who sell billions of dollars in property each year, and an in-house creative team bringing their dynamic and engaging brand to life. What they’re most proud of are their people, who are at the heart of everything they do.

They are now looking to appoint a Compliance Officer to support the business in building and maintaining their AML/CTF compliance framework as well as overseeing all other existing regulatory obligations. A pivotal role and a unique opportunity for someone interested in advancing their compliance career within the Australian real estate industry.

This role will suit someone who likes to operate two steps ahead. Read on if you are meticulous, detail-driven, a clear communicator, and have an endless pursuit of excellence.

About the role:

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with AML/CTF laws and other regulations relevant to the business
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update the AML/CTF Program
  • Monitor transactions, manage CDD/ECDD processes, investigate compliance issues, and report suspicious matters
  • Act as the primary liaison with AUSTRAC and submit required reports
  • Deliver training and guidance to brokers and support staff on their AML/CTF obligations
  • Manage compliance systems and coordinate independent AML/CTF reviews
  • Maintain and oversee existing compliance programs, including the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program and Supervision Guidelines
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and serve as the key point of contact for compliance-related queries

About you:

  • Ideally, you have experience in a similar role in the real estate sector, either locally or offshore
  • Experienced in AML compliance program development and risk analysis
  • Experienced in CDD/ECDD processing and transaction monitoring
  • Holder of a Class 1 licence, preferably NSW, or the willingness to obtain one (they will support you through the process if needed)
  • An ACAMS certification or legal background would also be highly regarded (but not essential)
  • You’re a clear communicator who delivers feedback constructively and with care, and are experienced in engaging with different stakeholders

Other benefits:
The company has a beautiful office in Darlinghurst, with a dedicated, high-performing and tight-knit team. A great location and work culture, where people stick around and have built a strong reputation in the market.

Not to mention – this is one of the first ever AML-focused appointments in the Australian real estate industry. It’s an excellent opportunity to advance your career in a sector that’s about to see a surge in demand for your skillset. A career-defining opportunity to lead compliance in a newly regulated sector – with a leading property group!
