My client is an established and trusted name in Australia, with over 180 years of history and a footprint spanning real estate, financial services, insurance, and broader commercial operations. They’re deeply embedded in communities, but continue to evolve - combining legacy, scale, and modernisation.

They now have a newly created role for an AML Compliance Officer, driven by the incomming Tranche 2 reforms to the AML/CTF Act. This is a unique opportunity for someone with true line 2 leadership experience - where you will build, shape, and embed an AML/CTF framework for the real estate division, while also leading AML across the business’s already regulated financial services divisions.

About the Role:

Lead and continuously improve the AML/CTF program, including risk assessments and framework updates

Act as the key point of contact for AUSTRAC and regulatory matters

Support the business in managing compliance obligations and embedding them operationally

Deliver training and guidance to improve compliance understanding across teams

Monitor and manage CDD/EDD processes and suspicious matter reporting

Conduct impact assessments on regulatory change and drive implementation

Prepare reporting for senior stakeholders and support governance processes

Manage audits, independent reviews, and remediation activities

About You:

Experience with AML/CTF program build, uplift, or operationalisation

Line 2 leadership experience is a must

Strong ability to interpret regulation and apply it in a commercial environment

Confident working with stakeholders across the business (including senior leaders)

Comfortable in a role that is both strategic and hands-on

Background in professional services or real estate would be highly regarded (but not essential)

Experience working in lean teams preferred; this role may not suit someone who has only worked in large banking environments

This is a unique opportunity to own and shape a compliance function in a high visibility role with direct stakeholder engagement. You will have a broad scope across both already regulated divisions, as well as the newly captured Real Estate division. Ideal for someone looking to step into a true 2nd line leadership role and broaden their experience beyond financial services into Tranche 2.
